Cheer Coaching 101

July 29

9 am - 4 pm

This 6 hour course has two components for a complete boot camp for new and returning cheer coaches: Theory & Hands On.

Cheer Coaching 101 is a program that has been utilized by youth and recreational coaches, junior high school coaches, high school coaches and all-star coaches.

The first 3 hours of the course consist of the Theory of Coaching and the impacts to both the cheerleaders under your supervision as well as the impact on your personal life that being a cheerleading coach may have. During this first portion of the course, we will examine many varied aspects of cheer coaching as diverse as conditioning programs through legal aspects of the sport.

The second portion of this course include Hand's On coaching and stunt training. Our people will demonstrate elementary stunt technique and then work with you to build the stunts yourself. We will break the stunts down to their elementary form and concentrate on what makes them work and what makes them not work.

Our course completes with a 40 question test and a Cheer Coaching 101 Certification for those who satisfactorily complete the course and test.

Cost for this course is $25.

United States All-Star Federation

USASF Certification

USASF is the U.S. All Star Federation. It's about safety standards. It's about coaches' education. It's about providing a safe environment to allow for the continued growth of all star cheerleading and dance across the country. It's about parents knowing their children are being taught using safe methods that are in accordance with the standard of care. It's about standardization of rules from one competition to the next.
It's about time.

The U.S. All Star Federation is officially organized as a not for profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors. The Board consists of industry leaders from major competition companies and nationally recognized all star program owners. The organization is also comprised of a number of committees, such as Rules; Selection; Membership; and Safety, Education and Ethics, that advise the Board on pertinent issues.

ALL Humboldt Cheer Company coaching staff are certified through Level 5 for Stunts, Tosses and Tumbling. Level 5 is the highest level available .

American Association of Cheerleading Coaches and Administrators

AACCA Safety Certification Course

September 2007

The AACCA Spirit Safety Certification Program is a lecture course, study manual, and timed exam designed to educate cheerleading and dance coaches in all aspects of spirit safety and risk management.

The course is a three-hour lecture and review of the AACCA Safety Manual directed by an AACCA National Safety Instructor. The course covers such topics as legal and medical responsibilities, spotting, skill progressions, environmental safety concerns, psychological readiness, physical readiness, program evaluation and more. It concludes with a 90-minute, 100-question exam. A score of 70 must be achieved to qualify for certification. The course tuition is $75, which includes the required AACCA Safety Manual.

The minimum age to take the course for certification is 18 years of age.  Those under 18 can take the course as a benefit to their safety awareness, but certification will not be given until the age of 18.

The certification is valid for four years, and provides the certified coach with one million dollars of secondary liability insurance coverage for coaches who are employed full time by a school or school district and be the coach or advisor for the school's cheerleader or dance squad(s) and must be 21 years of age. Coverage for credentialed members remains in force for four years, subject to the renewal of the master policy. There is no policy at this time for non-school coaches.

Coaches receive a lapel pin displaying their "Certified" status and a certificate attesting that they have successfully completed the AACCA Safety Certification Course.
